HoneyDo.es Weekly Update 4

HoneyDo.es Weekly Progress Update

Welcome to the fourth HoneyDo.es weekly progress update! We're a day late this week, as we needed a little extra time to finalize some of the HoneyDo.es improvements. We trust the polished improvements to the site will more then make up for the delay :). In the future continue to look for updates every Tuesday night!

Even Better Looking and More Intuitive

A to-do list is something you interact with almost every day, so it's important that it looks nice. We've taken even more steps to ensure HoneyDo.es is the best looking and most intuitive to-do list around:

We've highlighted and brightened up the task creator; making it clear where tasks are entered. Additionally we've reduced the size of the side-bar so there is more room for what really matters: your content.

We've made text inputs larger while softening them with rounded corners.

They're Your To-dos to Display However You Like

We've made it easy to change how to-dos are displayed. You can instantly switch between a Collapsed View, Normal View, and a PinBoard View site-wide and HoneyDo.es will remember your last selected option for you.
Collapsed View (Just What You Need and Nothing More)
Normal View (Every Detail About a To-do Available at A Glance)
PinBoard View (Ideal for Quickly Browsing Through Visual To-dos Like Recipes and Movies)

Go Ahead and Put it Off

Sometimes you have no choice but to put things off, when this time comes we've made it easier then ever. You can now put a to-do off till tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, or indefinitely with only 2 clicks.

No Label? No Problem.

There's a new view to see all to-dos that haven't been labeled yet.  Making it easy to find all your to-dos that still need to be categorized or allowing you to use unlabeled to-dos as your priority list.

Boards Just Got More Useful

You can now quickly see everyone who has joined a board and share boards on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ to grow board membership. Additionally you can now send invites to your HoneyDo.es friends, allowing them to work with you on private boards.

What's coming next week?

We've decided to put a heavy focus on improving the speed of the site over the next week and that will be our primary focus. We believe HoneyDo.es is already the most beautiful, intuitive, social, and motivating to-do list. Now we want to make it the fastest one as well. While were at it we will also be working on the following things.
  • A new task agenda view (allowing you to see tasks separated by day, week, month, and year).
  • The ability to tag friends within tasks.
  • More notification controls.
  • The ability to create a HoneyDo.es account separate from any existing service.

Thanks for using HoneyDo.es and reading our blog! Remember HoneyDo.es is driven by your suggestions, if any part of the experience is sub-optimal or you encounter any issues write a comment below, suggest a task to the "Honey Suggests" friend, email us at honeysuggests@gmail.com, or take our anonymous survey.

HoneyDo.es Weekly Update - Week 3

Weekly Progress Update #3

HoneyDo.es Weekly Progress Update

Welcome to the third HoneyDo.es weekly progress update! Over the last week, several exciting improvements have been made to HoneyDo.es that we think you'll love. Remember to look for more updates every Tuesday night.

HoneyDo.es Officially Released!

HoneyDo.es was officially released on Saturday, and already we've more then tippled our user base! But we're confident that this is only the beginning and we're working hard to spread the news of the new better way for people to get tasks done. Want to help out? The best way is to contribute here and spread the word to your friends and family.

HoneyDo.es Gets High Ratings on Reddit

We shared HoneyDo.es on the ZenHabits sub-reddit to get feedback on our product and see what productivity focused people thought. The results were astounding: the link quickly became the number one rated item and we got overwhelmingly positive feedback. Productive people who are always striving to accomplish more love HoneyDo.es.

Better Error Handling

Not the most exciting thing to talk about, but it had to be done. We've improved the way we handle errors on the page - and we now show you a simple friendly message when something bad happens. We also make sure to limit the message to where the problem occurred  so you can continue to use the rest of the site.

Better Default Fonts

We've changed the default fonts used by HoneyDo.es in an attempt to produce more powerful headlines and more readable content.

Design Improvements Abound

Better use of space, sharper icons, friendlier actions, richer likes, and a more prominent task creator. All done in our effort to make HoneyDo.es your perfect to-do list.

Voice Input Support when using Chrome

If your using chrome you'll notice a little microphone icon beside all search fields and the task creator. Click on this icon and you can dictate your task instead of typing it.

What's coming next week?

Now that we've released HoneyDo.es officially we've gotten even more great suggestions from our users about how to get it better, here's what we have coming next week:
  • The ability to tag friends in your tasks.
  • A view to see all unlabeled tasks.
  • More control over when and if you receive notifications.
  • More ways to see your tasks: collapsed, normal, and pin-board.
  • Week, Month, and Yearly task views.
  • The ability to invite friends to boards.
  • The ability to share boards on personal sites.
  • Better "Do Later >" button (allow users to choose between Tomorrow, Next Week, Next Month, Next Year, a specific date, or unspecified.

HoneyDo.es Weekly Update - Week 2

Weekly Progress Update #2

HoneyDo.es Weekly Progress Update

Welcome to the second HoneyDo.es weekly progress update! Over the last week, several exciting improvements have been made to HoneyDo.es that we think you'll love. Remember to look for more updates every Tuesday night.

Share Tasks With Friends!

You can now share any task on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. This can be useful for everyday tasks such as planning to see a movie. It can also be extremely beneficial as a tool to commit to long-term goals. Want to quit smoking? Lose Weight?  Add a task to your to-do list, and share it on all your social networks. Friends will like your task and help encourage you to stick to it.

You Can Now Invite Friends to Use HoneyDo.es With You

The more friends you have on HoneyDo.es; the more motivation you receive to get things done and gain points. Until now, adding friends has been a difficult manual process, not anymore! We've added a friend invite wizard to make things easier! The wizard makes it possible to quickly invite your friends on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and email. You can access this from the 'Friends' section of the site. It can be activated by the green "Invite Your Friends!" button.

There's Always Something Going On...

Unfortunately, at times, it can be hard to see that especially when your new. So we've added a public task feed. Using this feed enables you to scroll through all tasks that have been added to any of our public boards. So right away users can find inspiration for their own to-do list and have an opportunity to get connected with other Honeydo.es members. Don't worry, as always your personal to-do list is not shared with anyone you haven't explicitly added as a friend! This feed is for board tasks only.

Better On-Site Documentation

We've done a lot of work over the past week to make sure users are always given instructions on what to do next. Anywhere you would have seen a blank screen before, (for example: when no tasks are present, or when no search results are found), we do our best to suggest what to do next. Additionally, we've added an introduction help guide; available at any time by clicking the blue and white question mark at the top-right of the site.

We've Given You More Control Over Your Boards

You can now delete, complete, undo and change any aspect of any to-do item that has been placed in a board you've created.

Even More Customization!

We've added 3 additional themes you can buy in the store, as well as 6 stunning new wallpapers:

What's coming next week?

With this weeks changes, we believe HoneyDo.es has reached the point where it is useful for the general public. So we are proceeding with our official launch! We want to thank all of the beta users who have helped us get to this point! We could not have done it without your participation and suggestions! We are in the process of submitting a kick-starter campaign for a HoneyDo.es mobile app (w/ Android and iPhone support.) and as soon as this goes through we will officially launch HoneyDo.es. That said here's what we will be working on:
  • The ability to tag friends in your tasks.
  • The ability to invite friends to boards.
  • The ability to share boards on personal sites.
  • Improved handling of errors.
  • And of course starting our kick-starter and then making more people aware of the site.

A little extra something:

We've decided to leave you this week with a preview of our kick starter in the form of the video that will accompany it:

Weekly Update

HoneyDo.es Weekly Progress Update

Welcome to the first HoneyDo.es weekly progress update! We decided to start this blog to keep our users informed about any new updates to the site, and how to take advantage of them. Look for updates every Tuesday night!

Support for IE8+

The first update is probably the least exciting, but potentially the most useful. Support for IE8 and newer has been added to HoneyDo.es. This means you can now access HoneyDo.es from any commonly used browser (such as the one that's probably on your school or work computer).

You can now see your leader board position against everyone on the site!

We've added a new "Site Leaderboard" tab when you click on your score that lets you see where you place against all other users of the site.

Improved friend finder

We've redone the friend browsing interface to make it easier to browse through and add potential friends. Friends show up as blue (and when clicked you go right to their tasks), non friends show up as gray (and when clicked a friend request is sent to them), and requested friends show up as yellow.

Facebook connect support

HoneyDo.es is now an official Facebook app! This means you can connect your existing account to Facebook and login using either Facebook or your existing account credentials:

Additionally, if you don't already have a HoneyDo.es account you can now create one using Facebook:

We've added a Store where you can spend your coins!

You can finally spend all the coins you've earned leveling up on HoneyDo.es. We've added a few custom themes to start and will be adding wallpapers and brighter themes soon!

New task actions

You can now delete tasks without going to the edit interface:

Add a friend's task to your done list in one step with the "I've Done This" button:

Quickly add tasks from your done list by clicking the "Do Again!" button:

Easily skip a single occurrence of a repeating task using "Skip Occurrence >":

Smarter sub tasks

We've revamped the checklists associated with a single task. You can now delete individual sub tasks, click on sub tasks directly to indicate you've completed it, and add new sub tasks directly from any of your tasks.

Official score guide

We've added an official score guide, accessible at any point by clicking on your score and selecting the "How to Level Up" tab.

What's coming next week?

Over the  week we're going to be working on:
  • Adding the ability to share individual tasks to friends and family via facebook and twitter.
  • Making it possible to invite your friends to HoneyDo.es using your facebook account, twitter, or email.
  • Allowing users to stream through all public board tasks from the task feed.
  • A YouTube video documenting how and why to use HoneyDo.es.
  • Better on-site documentation (especially when no results are visible from a search or when first logging in).
  • Better management of boards.
  • Wallpapers and more themes!
